City Churches and the Bug Valley: a Weekend Drive

A weekend driving route combining Khmelnytskyi's main churches with the rural landscapes of the Bug valley. Begin at the city's oldest building, the 1837 Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos on Soborna Street, then visit the large Intercession Cathedral on Volodymyrska Street and the modern Church of Christ the King on Myru Avenue. From there drive north-west to the village of Oleshyn, where the Southern Bug meanders quietly through meadows, a lovely place for a riverside walk and a picnic. Finish in Cherepova at the wooden Holy Trinity Church of 1880, a rare example of Podillia's vernacular sacred architecture. You can return to the city the same way.
