The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos on Soborna Street is the oldest surviving building in Khmelnytskyi. Researchers date the first mentions of a church on this site to the 17th century: the small wooden church was rebuilt several times, and after the fire of 1822 it was decided not to restore it but to build a masonry cathedral instead. Construction began in 1835, and the church was consecrated on 15 May 1837; Church Square once stretched around it. The cathedral still retains its original appearance. Among its relics is a restored copy of the revered Ozeriany icon of the Mother of God. The church is listed as an architectural monument.
