The Khmelnytskyi Regional Philharmonic is the main concert venue of the city and the region. It was founded in 1938 in Kamianets-Podilskyi, then the regional centre, and in 1945, after the Second World War, it moved to the new regional centre, Proskuriv. At first it occupied a former cinema, and in 1982 it moved into a spacious new building on the street now called Heroiv Mariupolia (formerly Haharina), next to the equestrian monument to Bohdan Khmelnytskyi and Philharmonic Square. Symphonic, chamber and folk ensembles and pop artists perform here, and the venue hosts festivals, children's programmes and touring concerts. The programme is renewed every season.
