The Khmelnytskyi Regional Art Museum (KhOKhM) is the first state museum of independent Ukraine that deliberately chose contemporary Ukrainian art of the 20th–21st centuries as its specialisation. It was established in 1986, and its first exhibition opened to visitors on 30 August 1992. The museum occupies a historic two-storey building at 47 Proskurivska, the pedestrian street in the very centre of the city. It collects, studies and displays painting, graphics and sculpture by Ukrainian artists and regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures and tours. It is a good place to see how Ukrainian art has changed over the last century.
