Про локацію
Locals have long called this ancient Scythian burial mound on Svobody Boulevard, near the history museum, Bohdan's Grave. According to legend, Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky used it as an observation post during the Battle of Zhovti Vody in May 1648. In 1957 the foot of the mound was reinforced with a retaining wall of natural stone. A bronze-toned bas-relief showing the Zaporozhian Cossacks fighting the Polish noble army was mounted on it. The kurgan and the battle site associated with it are on the cultural heritage register of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. It is an atmospheric place for photos and an introduction to the city's Cossack past. The story of the battle continues in the first hall of the museum next door.
