Eastern suburbs of Zhovti Vody, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Copy
Інформація
Про локацію
The Zhovta River gave the city its name. It is a tributary of the Inhulets, 58 km long, with a basin of about 490 km². Its water has a distinctive yellowish tint from the iron oxides common in the valley. This is also the origin of the name of the Zhovti Vody ('Yellow Waters') area, known since Cossack times. The river flows through the eastern suburbs of the city among reeds and meadows, forming quiet pools where swans and other waterfowl can be seen. The banks of the Zhovta suit calm walks, fishing and nature photography. The famous Battle of Zhovti Vody took place in this valley in May 1648, so a walk along the river is also a journey through places of Cossack glory.
