Krasnokutskyi Forest

Krasnokutskyi Forest is a deciduous woodland about one and a half kilometres long on the northern edge of Zhovti Vody, in the valley of the Zhovta River. Practically every local knows it: people come here to pick mushrooms, have picnics with family and friends, or simply take a shortcut through the woods. A cross-country trail runs through the forest, and city orienteering competitions have been held here many times. The city maternity hospital once stood in the forest, so for many residents the place has a special, almost family meaning. Shady paths under broadleaf trees, small ravines and the nearby river make Krasnokutskyi Forest the best place in town for an unhurried walk in nature. It is at its best in spring, when the woods turn green, and in autumn, during mushroom season.
