Про локацію
This monument to the Kobzar on the street of the same name in Samar's historic centre is a local historical monument. It was unveiled in 1965 and reconstructed in 1980; the authors were sculptor Konstantynova and architects E. Hlushko and V. Shmalko. The poet's 1.1-metre granite bust, twice life size, stands on a pedestal faced with polished pink granite. Behind it two grey stelae set at an obtuse angle form a solemn backdrop. Interestingly, Shevchenko never visited the town, yet residents gather here every March for the Shevchenko Days. The monument is surrounded by greenery and the historic buildings of Shevchenka Street, so it is easy to combine with a walk to the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
