Інформація
Про локацію
Shevchenka Street between Cathedral Square and the centre is one of the few corners of Samar where pre-revolutionary merchant buildings have survived. Houses No. 2, 3 and 4 from the late 19th and early 20th centuries have expressive facades with brick decoration, pilasters, attics and ornate window surrounds; one is crowned by a small dome over the corner entrance. In the past they housed shops and offices of the district town, and today their ground floors are occupied by stores and bank branches. The Taras Shevchenko monument stands nearby and the Holy Trinity Cathedral is a few steps away, so the street is a natural route for a walk through the historic centre. The architectural details are best seen in the morning or evening, when the low sun brings out the relief of the facades.
