A modern memorial in Heroes Square next to the local history museum, solemnly unveiled on 24 December 2021. At the centre of the composition is a bronze figure of a Ukrainian soldier framed by a large granite portal, and around it granite stelae with black plaques bear the names of 55 defenders from the Novomoskovsk area who died fighting the Russian invaders during the ATO and JFO. The memorial was created on the initiative of the public, patrons and the NGO "Family of a Hero"; the sculptor was Volodymyr Nyzhnyk. At the opening it was blessed by Archbishop Symeon of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Today families of the fallen, veterans and residents come here to lay flowers and honour Ukraine's defenders.
