A local botanical natural monument and the only Southern catalpa (Catalpa bignonioides) in Chortkiv, a tree native to North America. It grows in a small square at 23 Shevchenka Street opposite the administrative buildings and is about 40 years old. The trunk girth at half a metre is 110 cm and the crown spreads about 12 by 10 metres. Protected status was granted by the regional council in 2006 for the tree's scientific and aesthetic value. The catalpa looks especially striking in early summer when it is covered with large white flower clusters, making it a pleasant stop on a walk through the town centre.
