Yurchynskykh Hill (Hollywood)

Yurchynskykh Hill, jokingly called Hollywood by locals, is a favourite place for walks and sunrise gatherings. As early as 1607 Polish captain Mykhailo Yakiv founded a Basilian monastery here with the Church of the Holy Trinity. In 2008 a six-metre cross was erected on top to mark the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine. Every 23 August the national flag of Ukraine is raised here, and school graduates come to greet the sunrise. The slopes offer views over Chortkiv and the Seret valley, making the hill a good spot for photos and relaxed strolls.
