Horishnia Vyhnanka village, left slope of the Seret valley Copy
Інформація
Про локацію
A local geological natural monument on the left slope of the Seret valley near the northern edge of Horishnia Vyhnanka village, about a kilometre upstream from Chortkiv. It exposes a roughly 40 m thick series of dark-brown and greenish-grey thin-bedded mudstones with limestone layers containing remains of tentaculites, ostracods and bivalves. The rocks belong to the Zhedinian stage of the Lower Devonian and form the stratotype of the Chortkiv horizon. The site was protected in 1983 and covers about 0.1 ha. For curious travellers it is a living book about the ancient sea that once covered Podillia.
