The wooden Church of the Ascension in the Dolishnia Vyhnanka district is a unique example of Ukrainian wooden architecture. According to tradition, it was built in 1630 without a single nail, and after destruction during Tatar and Turkish raids it was fully rebuilt in 1717, when it received its present dedication. The parish became Greek Catholic, and the construction was funded by residents of Dolishnia Vyhnanka, the church brotherhood and Chortkiv craftsmen. Standing near the old castle, it is an active church and an architectural monument of national significance. It is especially atmospheric during holidays and in morning light.
