The Old Town Hall on Rynok Square is one of Chortkiv's most recognisable buildings. Built in the 19th century, its highlight is a half-timbered clock tower with four dials, a rarity in Galicia that recalls medieval houses of Northern Europe. The clock was ordered in Bern under mayor Ludwik Noss, and a rooster weathervane crowns the spire. Next to it stand preserved two-storey trading arcades with a colonnade. The picturesque look has long attracted filmmakers: Vershnyky, Children of the Underground, Guarneri Quartet and Cherry Nights were shot here. The New Town Hall of the 1920s-30s is nearby.
