Про локацію
The Old (Main) Synagogue is a stone building from the 18th century and a rare example of a defensive-type synagogue. It arose from the needs of a growing Jewish community that had outgrown Rabbi Hirshele's small beth midrash. Its interior once featured 19th-century carvings and paintings and a special ark decorated with silver and gold. Today the building is an architectural monument and recalls the long and rich Jewish history of Chortkiv, an important Hasidic centre. It stands on Hoholia Street near the centre, so it is easy to include in a walking tour of the old town.
