Krasiński Palace

The two-storey manor house on Krasinskykh Street recalls the time when Dunaivtsi belonged to one of the best-known Polish families. Around 1782 the estate was bought by Jan Krasiński, starost of Opinogóra, who settled here with his wife Antonina née Czacka and invited German craftsmen to the town. In 1819 the estate was assigned to Antonina's grandson, the future poet Zygmunt Krasiński, and in 1826 to his father, General Wincenty. In 1850 it passed to Wiktor Skibniewski, and it was then that the travelling artist Napoleon Orda sketched the house. The rectangular building with a hipped roof and a columned porch has survived, although it lost its balcony and gained extensions, and little remains of the landscape park that once surrounded it on three sides. Today the palace houses a municipal cultural institution.
