Wooden Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Ripna

The wooden Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Ripna was built in 1893 on the initiative of the young priest Apolinarii Razumovskyi. The church survived the wars of the 20th century, including March 1944, when retreating Nazis burned almost the entire village. It is a local architectural monument, and images of Saints Cosmas and Damian appear on Ripna's coat of arms. Remains of the early 20th-century Schultz manor also survive in the village. Ripna lies near Tarnoruda and is linked to it by the legend of a hunter from Ripna who found a miraculous image above the Zbruch. Visiting this wooden church is a good way to feel the atmosphere of a Podillian village.
