Skibniewski Palace in Holozubyntsi

The palace on the hilltop above Holozubyntsi is one of the most interesting noble residences in the community. It was probably built in the late 1870s by Wiktor Zygmunt Skibniewski to a classicist design by architect Tomasz Oskar Sosnowski. Around the turn of the 20th century the building was enlarged to a design by a Baron Horoch: the central projection was raised and a semicircular loggia was added above the portico. The three projections of the main facade have survived almost unchanged. The palace once held Dutch-school paintings, family portraits, a library of rare books and a Turkish tent that one of the owners brought back from a journey to Arabia. After 1917 it housed a veterinary college, and since 1956 it has been used by healthcare institutions, so it is best admired from the outside, from the alleys of Holozubyntsi Park.
