Church of the Intercession in Sokilets

Sokilets, a former market town with its own castle and fairs that existed as early as the Principality of Galicia, has preserved the Orthodox Church of the Intercession built in 1840. A new Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God has also been built in the village. Nearby you can see other traces of Sokilets' rich history: remains of an early 18th-century town wall, the ruins of the Church of Our Lady, founded in 1723 as the church of St. Roch, traces of a cave monastery and an ancient hillfort. The Church of the Intercession is one of the stops on the community's 'Return to the Origins' route (Holozubyntsi — Lysets — Sokilets), so it is worth visiting together with the Ushytsia canyon, the holy spring 'Tomasheva Krynychka' and Burbun Waterfall.
