Church of the Dormition (Skorodyntsi)

The Greek Catholic Church of the Dormition in Skorodyntsi occupies a former Roman Catholic church built in 1910. The building, almost destroyed in Soviet times, was converted and consecrated in 2012 by Bishop Dmytro Hryhorak of the Buchach Eparchy. A parish has existed in the village since before 1700, first with a wooden church, and in 1914 a stone church was built that was consecrated by Hryhorii Khomyshyn. It is a vivid example of how churches and denominations changed in the community's villages and how historic buildings found a new life. Skorodyntsi is a quiet village above the Seret, attractive for unhurried trips.
