Khmelnytskyi celebrates its birthday every year on the last weekend of September. In 2026 the city marked 595 years since the first mention of Ploskyriv, with a two-day programme. It combines a ceremony near the city council with flag raising and tributes to defenders, the concert marathon 'To You, My City!' near the Dytiachyi Svit shopping centre, the Obzhynky craft fair on Prybuzka street, the 'Art Picnic' and Masters' Fair in Shevchenko Square with free pottery, paper-cutting and painting workshops, and an education fair in Chekman Park. Active guests can join a morning run through the centre to a DJ set, sports contests and family entertainment, and couples can even get married on City Day.
